Good Samaritan Hospital, a member of the HCA Healthcare system, has been recognized for its outstanding commitment to patient safety, earning the Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award™ for the fourth consecutive year (2022-2025). This distinction places Good Samaritan Hospital among the top 5% of hospitals nationwide for patient safety for the second year in a row (2024-2025) and the top 10% in the nation for the fourth consecutive year (2022-2025).

“At Good Samaritan Hospital, patient safety is at the heart of everything we do,” said Patrick Rohan, CEO of Good Samaritan Hospital. “This national recognition reflects the dedication of our physicians, nurses, and entire care team to delivering the highest standards of safe, high-quality care to our patients every day.”

Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance based on risk-adjusted complication and mortality rates across approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide. Their analysis highlights the significant impact of patient safety efforts, showing that patients treated at hospitals recognized with the 2025 Patient Safety Excellence Award have a significantly lower risk of experiencing serious safety events, including:

  • 54% lower likelihood of in-hospital falls resulting in a fracture
  • 55% lower likelihood of a collapsed lung due to a procedure or surgery
  • 69% lower likelihood of developing pressure sores or bed sores
  • 72% lower likelihood of acquiring a catheter-related bloodstream infection

“As a 2025 Patient Safety Excellence Award recipient, Good Samaritan Hospital consistently puts the well-being of their patients and staff at the forefront, setting a high standard for patient safety nationwide,” said Debra Gradick, MD FACEP, senior physician consultant at Healthgrades. “We commend Good Samaritan Hospital for providing consistently exceptional care while preventing serious injuries, giving patients their best chance of a seamless recovery.”
