  • Hand therapy — A certified hand therapist is available to assess and treat any hand or wrist problems that interfere with personal, work and community life.
  • Splinting, bracing and adaptive equipment — We are equipped to assess functional impairment and may use an adaptive tool, splint or brace to help you regain a skill lost or impaired by illness or disability.
  • Workstation assessment and on-site job analysis — We look at details of your job responsibilities and work areas to determine if modifications need to be made.

Physical therapy

Our compassionate physical therapists offer personalized support for you, tailoring their care to your unique condition.

Physical therapy services we offer include:

  • Amputee program — We work closely with your doctor and prosthetist to ensure a properly fitting and functioning prosthesis. We also provide prosthetic rehabilitation to help with gait training.

  • Neurological rehabilitation — We treat an array of disabilities and impairments that may arise from neurological conditions, including Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis (MS) and Guillain-Barré syndrome.
  • Orthopedic rehabilitation — We provide exercises to restore range of motion, strength and mobility following an orthopedic surgery or diagnosis. This includes comprehensive rehabilitation services at the Silicon Valley Joint Replacement Center.

What to expect during inpatient rehabilitation

When you first are admitted into our program, a specialist in each rehabilitation discipline conducts an evaluation to assess your specific needs and develop a treatment plan. You and your family meet with the treatment team to set short- and long-term goals. It's important to know that a typical day involves at least three hours of rehabilitation therapy.

We offer private rooms, a classroom space and a miniature apartment where you can practice new skills before you return to your home. We encourage early involvement of family and friends who are part of your plan. Additionally, we help you and your support team connect with community resources you may need after returning home.

Our admission process

We accept referrals from all sources. However, if you are interested in inpatient rehabilitation at our hospital, we recommend that you first talk with your physician. We provide a free pre-admission evaluation to determine if you are eligible. We are usually able to schedule an evaluation within one day of a referral.

Our inpatient rehabilitation program is located on the third floor at our Mission Oaks campus.

Specialized rehabilitation team

It takes specialists in all facets of medical care to help you get better after an injury or illness. Our rehabilitation program is led by a physiatrist and is staffed by:

  • Clinical nutritionists
  • Diabetic educators
  • Neuropsychologists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Psychologists
  • PTs
  • Recreational therapists
  • Rehabilitation nurses
  • Social workers
  • Speech-language pathologists

Outpatient rehabilitation

We also provide comprehensive rehabilitation services on an outpatient basis. This may be helpful once you are discharged from your inpatient program. It may also be appropriate for you if you do not require the intensity of an inpatient program.

About outpatient care

Some of the comprehensive outpatient services we offer include:

  • Occupational therapy
  • Orthopedic rehabilitation for joint replacement
  • Physical therapy
  • Speech therapy

We offer outpatient pediatric speech-language delay or disorder services for children with delays in speech development or verbal language abilities. We also treat specific disorders in any communication skill (e.g., articulation, verbal expression or receptive language).

Our outpatient rehabilitation program is also located at our Mission Oaks campus.
