Dr. Yao has extensive training in herbs, supplements, nutrition, lifestyle change, and functional medicine. She is board certified in integrative & holistic medicine as well as physical medicine & rehabilitation. She also has training in Natural Procreative Technology. She works at Good Samaritan Hospital's Mission Oaks acute rehab unit. She also has a telemedicine clinic that focuses on wholistic fertility.

Dr. Yao is passionate about helping people finding and treating root causes of their health problems, especially women's health problems (irregular menstruation, painful periods, premenstrual syndrome, infertility). She believes in personalized and "wholistic" approach, meaning she evaluates the "whole" person, not just one organ system at a time. She does not prescribe birth control pills, as she finds that is a cookie-cutter approach that only masks women's symptoms and does not fix the root causes of women's health problems.
