San Jose Anesthesia & Pain Management

Board-Certified and In-House Anesthesiologists

Patients at Good Samaritan Hospital have access to top quality anesthesia services provided by physicians who have trained at the country's finest medical institutions. Our San Jose anesthesiologists are all Board-Certified, reflecting stringent review of their education, demonstrated expertise, and experience with the variety of surgical subspecialties that Good Samaritan offers.

Comprehensive Anesthesiology Services

At our Labor and Delivery Unit, Good Samaritan Hospital offers women in labor the confidence of having a qualified anesthesiologist in-house at all times—24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition to relief from labor pain, this provides an additional layer of safety for both routine and high-risk births at our hospital. This is just one of the many reasons we’ve been recognized as one of the “Best Places to Have a Baby,” by Bay Area Parent magazine.

In our Children's Surgery Center, anesthesiologists with special expertise care for the needs of pediatric patients. These physicians have special training in caring for patients from the smallest newborns to adolescents, providing a personalized experience for every child treated.

As a Comprehensive Stroke Center, Good Samaritan's response team also includes anesthesiologists with training in neurosurgery and other neurological interventional procedures. Additionally, our specialists provide anesthesiology in cardiovascular and weight loss surgery, recognizing the unique challenges of caring for patients undergoing such procedures.

Making Patient Safety Our First Concern

Above all else, our Board-Certified anesthesiologists' first concern will always remain the safety of our patients. That is why they work closely with surgeons, obstetricians, and other staff to identify the safest, most effective anesthesia options for each patient. Anesthesiologists are also a valuable resource regarding post-procedure pain management, treatment options for patients with chronic pain, and care for critically ill patients in our Intensive Care Units.

For example, we may see patients dealing with chronic pain due to:

  • Back or Neck Injuries
  • Shingles
  • Migraines
  • Arthritis
  • Spinal Cord Injuries
  • Incorrectly Treated Surgical Pain
  • Cancer
  • Various Other Conditions
  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

We firmly believe that communication with patients is key and often begins before patients have surgery. Our anesthesia providers emphasize dialogue with patients to clarify their needs, answer their questions, and dispel any concerns or fears they may be dealing with.
